“The Gunless Soldier” to Premiere on YouTube This Monday

Award-winning Malawian filmmaker Joyce Mhango Chavula has announced that her film “The Gunless Soldier” will be released on YouTube this coming Monday morning.

The short video from The Gunless Soldier 


Chavula said the decision to release the film online is aimed at giving more Malawians a chance to watch it, especially those who missed the opportunity to see it when it was first screened.

“The Gunless Soldier” is one of the Malawian films that has won several awards and recognition. The production features a strong cast, including the late Ashukile Mwakisulu, whose performance in the film was widely praised.

According to Chavula, uploading the movie on YouTube will also help people remember the talent and contribution that Ashukile Mwakisulu made to the Malawian film industry.

Other actors featured in the film include Edwin Chonde, Mphatso Chikuni, Neria Chikhosi, and Kelvin Ngoma. The release is expected to attract many viewers who want to experience one of Malawi’s notable film productions.

 The question of why Malawi is still not fully eligible for content monetization on major digital platforms has continued to worry many content creators in the country. While several African countries have already unlocked monetization opportunities, Malawi remains behind, raising concerns among local digital creators.
