By Chrispin Tsitsamanja

Malawian hip-hop artist Hyphen has made history after becoming the first hip-hop artist in Malawi to reach 100,000 views on YouTube within just 11 hours. This is a record many fans are calling a major breakthrough for Malawi’s hip-hop scene.

Hyphen's New Released song titled as Tiziti Mwaiwala

The achievement comes through his new song titled “TIZITI MWAYIWALA,” which has quickly gained massive attention online. Many people say this kind of fast growth has never been seen before in Malawi’s hip-hop, making Hyphen’s moment a special one for the genre.

The audio for the song was produced by DJ Sley, while the video was shot and directed by Chisco TheVideoguy. The high-quality production has also been praised by fans who believe the visuals played a big role in the song’s quick success.

“TIZITI MWAYIWALA” also features the presence of Black Jak’s voice, who is also known as Che Kalonda, adding a familiar sound that many listeners quickly recognised. The song further includes strong female vocals from Princess Multikey, giving the track an extra emotional and musical balance.

Mfumu Hyphen/Young Kay

Hyphen, who was previously known as Young Kay, has continued to grow his brand in recent years. His name change has been seen as part of his new chapter, and his current success shows that the decision has paid off.

As Young Kay, he had a hit song titled “Anankabango,” which helped him gain early popularity. Now, with “TIZITI MWAYIWALA” breaking records, Hyphen is proving that he is not only consistent, but also ready to push Malawi hip-hop to new heights.
