Immediate release that PAEAM Released according to price adjustment

PAEAM President Percy Manyozo said the decision was made due to the rising cost of living and the high inflation rate, which is currently estimated at around 26 percent. He explained that producers and audio engineers are also affected by economic challenges and need fair pricing to sustain their work.

Under the new guidelines, the recommended price for a standard music recording studio session is now K1,000,000. This amount includes the use of professional studio equipment as well as technical support from a qualified audio engineer.

Manyozo said the new rates are meant to bring professionalism, fairness, and sustainability to the music industry, while also ensuring quality services for artists.

The announcement has sparked discussion among artists and producers, with some welcoming the move as a step toward valuing creative work, while others are concerned about affordability, especially for upcoming artists.

PAEAM has encouraged stakeholders in the music industry to engage in dialogue so that the new pricing structure can help grow the sector while balancing the needs of both artists and producers.

The revised rates are expected to shape how music production services are offered in Malawi starting next year.
