The artists will showcase Malawian traditional dances and other forms of local creativity at the Surajkund International Crafts Festival. This festival brings together artists and cultural groups from different countries around the world.

This year’s festival is the 39th edition, and Malawi is participating for the fourth time. The main goal of the event is to preserve and promote culture from different nations.

Speaking ahead of the trip, James Thole, who is responsible for dance affairs in the Malawi National Dance Troupe, said the team is ready to raise Malawi’s flag high on the international stage.

“We are ready to showcase Malawi’s culture and make our country proud,” he said.

Other #Malawian# artists taking part in the festival include Sella Sizalande, popularly known through Zakwathu Malawi, who makes baskets, and Lawrence Daka from Dingilo Arts, who creates clothing, bracelets, and other handmade products.

The Surajkund International Crafts Festival will officially start on Saturday and will run until February 15, 2026.

The participation of Malawian artists in the festival is expected to strengthen cultural exchange and promote Malawi’s rich heritage to the world
