For many years, Jai Banda has been one of the most influential figures in Malawi’s entertainment scene, known for organising memorable music events and parties that have helped promote local artists and connect audiences with live music. His White Party has grown into a popular annual celebration, attracting a wide range of music fans and performers. This year’s edition promises to be even bigger, as it coincides with his 67th birthday.

Speaking to Times360 Malawi ahead of the event, Banda revealed that several well-known artists will perform at the celebration. The lineup includes Zeze Kingston, Saint, Driemo, Chizmo, Dan Lu, Kaka, Pianoman, veteran musicians Kale, Edgar and Davis, as well as Makasu Band, among others. According to Banda, the presence of these artists will make the event special and unforgettable for attendees.

Banda, who was born on 2 February, said the celebration is not just about music but also about gratitude and reflection on his life journey. He expressed his appreciation to God for giving him a long and healthy life and thanked the people who have supported him throughout his career.

“I want to thank everyone who has supported me in my life. We live only once in this world, and I felt it was wise to celebrate while I am still strong and healthy,” said Banda.

He also explained that the White Party has a unique identity because of its elegant theme, where guests are encouraged to dress in white. Over the years, the event has become a symbol of joy, unity, and appreciation of music, attracting people from different backgrounds. Banda believes that such events play an important role in strengthening Malawi’s creative industry by giving artists a platform to showcase their talent.
